Stalker arrested on kidnapping charges outside house of Sonya Deville

A pretty terrifying story was broken today. The Tampa Bay Times revealed that a South Carolinian was arrested early Sunday for attempting to kidnap a homeowner he’d stalked for years. While the official report doesn’t name the victim, the home is owned by Sonya Deville.

Phillip A. Thomas II began planning an abduction about eight months ago, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Thomas parked his car near a church close to the home and cut a hole into the patio screen. After waiting there for hours, he made a move, opening the sliding glass door and triggering the alarm around 2:43 a.m.

The homeowner spotted Thomas and left in a car with a guest before calling 911. Thomas was still on the property when the police arrived, and was carrying “a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace and other times, and told deputies he was planning to take the homeowner hostage.”

Thomas’s Twitter account, @Phillips80400010, revealed quite a large amount of posts about and to Sonya Deville. He’d even commented on Deville’s appearance at the GLAAD media awards, stating. “I’m so proud of you Daria you’re an inspiration to me.”
