CM Punk’s return to WWE marks a significant shift after a turbulent stint with AEW characterized by controversies. The question on many minds now is whether Punk will adjust his approach, particularly concerning his outspoken political views.

Val Venis, known for his candid opinions on various subjects, has previously criticized The Rock for what he perceives as compromising principles. Now, Venis is directing his political commentary towards CM Punk.

The controversy ignited in May 2022 during an episode of AEW Dynamite when CM Punk, serving as a guest commentator, donned a pro-choice message on his shirt. This wardrobe choice attracted criticism, notably from former WWE referee Drake Wuertz. Over a year later, the issue remains a topic of discussion.

CM Punk’s pro-choice shirt prompted Val Venis to express his disapproval. Venis, who has transitioned away from professional wrestling to focus on a thriving marijuana business, is known for sharing his political beliefs on social media.

Venis, on his platform, posted another screenshot of CM Punk wearing the pro-choice shirt and questioned whether Punk would continue such messaging on WWE television. The caption suggested skepticism about Punk’s potential promotion of similar ideas on WWE programming.

“I wonder if @cmpunk will promote genocide in the womb on #WWE TV like he did #AEW TV.“

Venis continued his critique, responding to a fan who found fault with the CM Punk comparison. Venis then shared a photo of CM Punk holding a sign advocating support for LGBTQ Youth. The accompanying caption raised questions about perceived differences, alleging that Punk’s support for abortion and transgender individuals aligns with certain political ideologies.

As CM Punk reenters WWE, the uncertainty looms regarding the impact of his political views on the company’s programming. Val Venis’s scrutiny underscores the intersection of professional wrestling and politics, where wrestlers’ personal beliefs can become subjects of public discourse and debate.
