Actor Sylvester Stallone is set to move to Florida after living in California with his wife, Jennifer Flavin Stallone for decades.
The Stallones made a big announcement during the premiere of their reality show, The Family Stallone. After being married for 25 years and raising three daughters, they nearly got divorced in 2022. However, the couple has managed to reconcile and continue living together after their daughters have moved out.
“It’s an empty nest. I need to change it up,” Jennifer Flavin Stallone, 55, explained during the episode.
“We have a lot of roots in California, so it’s not an easy transition to Florida,” Sylvester Stallone, 77, said. “But Jennifer really had her heart set on it. I gave in.”
They join the more than 340,000 individuals who left California in 2022 alone, per a National Association of Realtors survey. The National Movers Study also shows a progressive increase in the number of Californians leaving the state more often than entering since 2016. A total of 58% of residents moved out, with the majority claiming work or family obligations as the cause.
Following the coronavirus epidemic, when Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) imposed stringent regulations on schools and businesses to stem the virus’s spread, the move-out rate has sharply increased in subsequent years.
Meanwhile, it is noted that more people are moving to Florida than ever before, with the Sunshine State reporting the most migration in the nation in 2022. Its population increased by 1.9%, making Florida the top state for population increases for the first time since 1957. Last year, Florida had an inbound move-in rate of 43%, but most cited their reason for moving in was to retire.
