Terry Funk Calls Out ‘Health Emergency’ Rumor

In very sad news today, it was recently reported that wrestling legend Terry Funk is suffering from dementia and currently in an assisted living facility. In an update to this development, Funk’s twitter account, which is ran by a represented issued the following in regards to the status of Funk’s health. This former ECW Champion announced he was retiring due to health issues.

“Yes, Mr. Funk is currently receiving residential care for his multiple health issues, which do affect his mind as well as the rest of his body. As you can imagine, some days are better than others. He & his family appreciate all of your kind words! FOREVER!”

Fans over on the ever-popular Squared Circle subreddit discussed Funk’s diagnosis. One user named heartbreakhill emotionally stated: “I recently lost my grandfather to dementia after he declined over the course of about seven years. For most of that time he was as physically healthy as anyone in their 90s could be, just completely out of it mentally, and then in the last 3 or so months it just took a quick nosedive. Dementia is a frustrating, disgraceful way to go. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, let alone Funkster.”

One of Funk’s biggest associates called out an ‘insecure’ former WWE Universal Champion earlier this year. While Docjackal added: “I know we meme about Terry being invincible, but I worried about something like this happening after his wife passed. Usually when there’s a couple in a long-lasting marriage or relationship like that, and something happens to one, the other will quickly decline. It’s heartbreaking. Happened with my grandparents, one passed within weeks of the other. Goes to show how tough he is, though, that he’s gone on this long without something like this coming to light. I hope whatever time he has left is as comfortable as possible.”
