Triple H explains why Roman Reigns never disclosed anything about his first battle with Leukemia

Roman Reigns relinquished the Universal Championship on Monday Night Raw this week. The Big Dog announced that he had to step away from the ring for a while to battle his leukemia, which had returned.

Reigns continued, letting the WWE Universe know that his first bout with the cancer was back when he was around eleven years ago. Reigns kept that part of his life a secret up until this week, and some fans were curious as to why he never discussed it.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were recently on the Elvis Duran Show to promote the upcoming event WWE Evolution. While they were in the studio, the Game and Stephanie had a chance to discuss Reigns’ announcement and why he didn’t speak up about his original battle until recently.

This is something that…very few people know about this…this was something he did not want to put out there, because he didn’t want people to think that he was pitied or given things for a certain reason.

He wanted to be able to come out at the end and say, ‘Look, I dealt with this the whole time. You can do anything, this is not an end sentence.’

Life’s what happens when you’re busy making plans. Here it is back, but he realized now is the time to spread his message. He’s gonna fight this, and he’s gonna win.

Stephanie and Triple H went on to discuss the WWE’s charity work in regards to cancer and cancer research.
