Cody Rhodes recently made his highly-anticipated switch to WWE from AEW. He made his return to the company at WrestleMania and immediately picked up a win against Seth Rollins. Recently, AEW star Chris Jericho joined Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio and went on to discuss the departure of ‘The American Nightmare’ from All Elite Wrestling(AEW).

Chris Jericho opens up on the departure of Cody Rhodes

During an appearance on the podcast, Chris Jericho was asked about his thoughts in regards to the departure of Cody Rhodes from AEW. He talked about Rhodes’ decision to jump ship from AEW to WWE. ‘The Demo God’ said that he felt disappointed when Rhodes left but he understands the career perspective. He believes that Rhodes left to reinvent himself similar to what Jericho did back in 2017 when he left WWE. He further lauded how WWE brought him for WrestleMania and put him over.

Here is what he said:

“I was honestly disappointed that he left. But, I get it. I’ve done it many times myself. You know this, we’ve discussed the reinvention of Jericho many times. I mean, I left WWE in 2017 for basically the same reason why Cody left AEW, from what I understand. He just didn’t think he was getting the – I don’t know if it’s the spotlight or the respect or whatever the word being, but you could kind of see the writing on the walls. Obviously now, Cody is as bigger than he’s ever been just by changing companies. And obviously, they did a great job in putting him over at WrestleMania, bringing him in at the highest of levels, and now it’s up to Cody to do the dirty work shall we say and continue that momentum and get that job done. And can he do it? Absolutely. He’s a very smart guy. He’s a great performer.”

Rhodes recently faced The Miz and picked up a huge win on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW.
