Engoran’s ruling against him in a far-reaching civil fraud case has been marked by fervent criticism aimed at both the judge and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Trump’s response extended from Tuesday into Wednesday morning, with him venting his frustration on his Truth Social platform.
In one of his posts, Trump lashed out, characterizing Judge Engoran as a “Deranged, Trump Hating Judge” who hastily processed the case, preventing it from going to the Commercial Division, where Trump believed it belonged. Trump claimed that Engoran had unfairly assigned extremely low values to his properties, citing Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, which the former president argued was worth significantly more than the judge’s valuation of $18,000,000. Trump asserted that Engoran’s actions were politically motivated, alleging that the judge’s anger and hatred were unprecedented.
Trump further contended that his true net worth exceeded the figures presented in his financial statements, emphasizing the presence of a robust “buyer beware clause” in those documents. He decried the lawsuit as a politically motivated witch hunt driven by a “Racist Attorney General” and a “Deranged, Trump Hating Judge.” Trump claimed that the case amounted to election interference of an unprecedented magnitude.
In a subsequent post, Trump reiterated his belief in his higher net worth and celebrated the presence of the “POWERFUL” “buyer beware clause.” He maintained that the lawsuit should never have been filed, branding it as a racially motivated endeavor by the attorney general and a judge with a personal vendetta against him. Trump called for intervention from the highest courts in New York State or the federal system.

According to Reuters, the court’s ruling could severely impact Trump’s ability to conduct business in New York, potentially requiring the liquidation of LLCs holding a substantial portion of his assets. Bill Black of the University of Minnesota Law School described the decision as devastating and one that, if upheld, would necessitate the disposal of a significant portion of Trump’s assets.
