Donald Trump posted the following on Truth Social:
I hear that RACIST Fulton County (Atlanta) District Attorney “Phoney”Fani Willis, who weakly presides over one of the deadliest communities in the U.S., with thousands of murderers, violent criminals & gang members roaming the streets while going untried, free, & are treated with “kid gloves,” is using a potential Indictment of me, and other innocent people, as a campaign and fundraising CON JOB, all based on a PERFECT PHONE CALL, AS PRESIDENT, CHALLENGING ELECTION FRAUD – MY DUTY & RIGHT
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is poised to present a compelling case before a grand jury, seeking over a dozen indictments related to the attempts by former President Donald Trump and his associates to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. Sources familiar with the matter have shared that Willis, a Democrat, is investigating potential charges of conspiracy and racketeering, which could involve multiple defendants. Her investigation encompasses various facets, including efforts to pressure election officials, the alleged presentation of fake electors, and a reported breach of voting systems in Coffee County, Georgia.
Individuals who participated in these endeavors on behalf of Trump are reportedly anticipating charges, including the former president himself, as reported by CNN. The scope of the investigation is broad, and it is suggested that several high-profile figures could potentially face legal repercussions for their roles in these alleged schemes.
Among the witnesses summoned by Willis are former Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, former Georgia Democratic state Sen. Jen Jordan, and independent journalist George Chidi. They had previously provided testimony to a special purpose grand jury that was convened to investigate the case, hearing from numerous witnesses.
Fani Willis initiated her investigation into Trump’s actions shortly after he engaged in a contentious phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, in which he reportedly urged Raffensperger to “find” the votes necessary to secure his victory in the state. Willis’ approach includes the consideration of racketeering charges, a legal tactic she has previously employed in unconventional ways to bring charges against individuals in other cases.
