Video: Paige says she may try to compete in MMA

WWE Superstar Paige has been doing some mixed martial arts (MMA) training with real-life boyfriend Alberto Del Rio lately, and the training seems to have inspired her to consider a possible career switch. Del Rio is the President of Mexican MMA promotions Combate Americas, so Paige definitely has a promotion to compete for if she decided to start fighting.

Paige confirmed with TMZ that the idea to switch over to MMA is one she is considering:

I think it needs to stop myself. For the very reasons you mentioned. Everyone knows wrestling is not real, but seeing pro wrestlers get their clocks-cleaned in the octagon makes it look even worse. Unless you have a prior martial-arts background (and I consider Greco-roman amateur wrestling a form of martial-arts) you have no business in there. You have exceptions to the rule both ways.

The reason why Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley have been successful in MMA is because of their amateur backgrounds. The reason why Ken Shamrock was able to transition from MMA to pro-wrestling so well is because he had prior pro-wrestling experience before going into MMA full-time.

In either profession you can’t just waltz in there cold-turkey and think you are gonna do anything substantial.

    What a fucking idiot…….

Bad neck and no fighting experience? What can possibly go wrong?

Paige… you used to be the highlight of the womens division and now look at you…tragic.

I commend these pro wrestlers for giving MMA the “old college try,” but it’s an entirely different level. It’s not something you can just pick up and be good at right away.

    That’s laughable at best.
