Ariane Andrew, also known by her ring name Cameron, rose through the ranks of WWE’s developmental system by wrestling in FCW and NXT before making her way to the main roster. Although she was released by WWE in 2016, Andrew made a comeback in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble, where she had a memorable moment with her former tag team partner and onscreen rival Naomi after being eliminated. However, Andrew recently revealed on the “Ring The Belle” show that she was supposed to return for more appearances after the Royal Rumble.
Andrew shared that the weekend of the Royal Rumble was a rollercoaster for her as she had just lost her father before receiving a call from WWE asking her to come back. However, she later received a text message cancelling her travel plans without a specific reason. The initial plan was for the storyline between Cameron and Naomi to continue, but it never materialized.
“I was supposed to come back,” Andrew said. “It was such a roller coaster weekend. It was … doing the Rumble, then losing my dad, then getting the call on Tuesday being asked to come back.
Naomi didn’t have anybody, and it’s like that was the perfect moment,” Andrew continued. “And after that didn’t happen, I was like ‘When would there ever be another moment like this? It was like perfect timing.
Andrew expressed her disappointment that the perfect moment with Naomi had gone to waste and that she struggled to deal with the emotional turmoil of losing her father and having her WWE return taken away. This caused her to schedule a longer therapy session than usual.
