WrestleMania 40 Rumored To Take Place In Two Cities

On the latest episode of the “Nitty Gritty Dirt Show” on RussosBrand.com, host Billi Bhatti and former WWE writer Vince Russo, discussed how plans for WrestleMania 40 are already taking shape with the event rumored to take place in two cities – New York, NY and East Rutherford, NJ. Wrestling-Edge transcribed Bhatti’s comments below.

Bhatti: When they do go to two nights at WrestleMania 40, if they are looking at New York they would be looking at the first night being at Madison Square Garden to, on paper, fulfill the tradition and legacy of WrestleMania. Which has had been held at the Garden for WrestleMania’s 1, 10 and 20 and then Metlife Stadium for night two. So they are trying to secure themselves and in addition, the New York market is a total wrestling market anyway. Even if these numbers have ridiculously dropped off they will do fine in New York.

In other news concerning the ‘Grand Daddy of Them All’, a recent report by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter discusses the murky direction of the top matches for WrestleMania 37. during the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter explains why the direction for the top matches at WrestleMania 37.

The reason there has been no television direction for the main matches at Mania and you don’t hear anything about them is because there isn’t any. The only thing we know is the top Raw championship matches are not locked in. On SmackDown, Reigns has two different opponents that are being considered so Bryan is not a lock and at least as of this past week, Nakamura was not one of the two under consideration as of last week, even after the gauntlet. Then again, if you followed the Kingston deal a few years ago if they sense people want something, it’s possible to change and in fact, plans change daily anyway. But with no crowds, while plans will change, the change to Nakamura in that spot is less likely but nothing is impossible.
