Logan Paul has launched a defamation lawsuit against boxer Ryan Garcia on behalf of his Prime Hydration drink company. The WWE Superstar took to social media to express his frustration, claiming that his brand is “under attack” due to false narratives circulating online. Paul emphasized that it’s time to take legal action, with Garcia being the first target.
In his Instagram post, Paul stated, “Today we begin to hold those accountable who’ve damaged our brand for attention while we correct the narrative. We’re here to stay and will continue to change the world of hydration with bold flavors and creative innovation.”
The lawsuit, as obtained by TMZ Sports, details Garcia’s alleged defamation. Garcia has posted on social media claiming that Prime Hydration causes severe health issues such as brain damage, liver problems, and other harmful side effects, without providing any supporting evidence. Additionally, Garcia has claimed that Prime contains “ostarine,” a banned substance for which he tested positive in relation to his fight with Devin Haney. It’s worth noting that Haney is a Prime-sponsored athlete.
Furthermore, Prime asserts that Garcia has made damaging statements linking the company to the devil and accusing its employees of heinous crimes, including rape and burning children. Prime contends that Garcia is aware his claims are false but is making these statements to promote his own brand through sensationalism and drama.
The lawsuit accuses Garcia of defamation, trade libel, violations of the Lanham Act, unfair competition, and unjust enrichment.
Prime Hydration, co-founded by Logan Paul and KSI, has rapidly become one of the most popular drinks globally, securing sponsorships with high-profile athletes and teams, including Patrick Mahomes, Terence Crawford, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Erling Haaland.
Garcia has not yet responded to the lawsuit, but given the high-profile nature of the case, a response is anticipated soon,.
