Vince McMahon introduced the Wild Card Rule a while ago on RAW and it was met with criticism from fans. McMahon already changed the Wild Card Rule meaning four Superstars can cross over to the other brand and a loophole could be exploited, where eight Superstars could jump brands if they are part of a tag team.
All of this has resulted in Smackdown Live events getting cancelled, which is certainly not a good thing.
Sean Ross Sapp said on Fightful’s MITB wrap-up show that he’s spoken to people in the company, where the general consensus is that the Wild Card Rule is bad and the employees hate the rule.
“Here’e hoping they end that Wild Card. All but one person I’ve spoken to in the company hates the idea of the Wild Card. They hate it. Several of them stated that ‘Oh I wouldn’t hate it if it was one person on a show, but it’s a crutch.’”
Due to the rule, bigger names are brought to the brand and this results in other superstars getting lesser spotlight, which is definitely a bad thing.
This is especially true for Smackdown Live, as superstars such as Chad Gable has been pushed back and barely been used since the Superstar Shake-Up.
