WWE provides a “critical” update on Rey Mysterio following his eye injury on RAW

On this week’s edition of WWE Monday Night RAW, Rey Mysterio fell victim to a brutal assault from Murphy and Seth Rollins, who was certainly not in the best of moods following his loss to WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre at Money in the Bank.

While Mysterio himself was thrown off the roof by King Corbin at the MITB pay-per-view, the former WWE Champion suffered an eye attack the very next night, courtesy of ‘The Monday Night Messiah’.

WWE has now provided a storyline update on Mysterio‘s status and it is to be noted that his latest injury has been listed as critical after Rollins shoved the former’s eye into the corner of the steel ring steps on WWE RAW.

Following is an excerpt from WWE’s update on Rey Mysterio:

Rey Mysterio’s injury status is still listed as critical. Doctors cannot properly assess the damage to his retina until the swelling subsides, as Rey is currently at-risk for infection.
