WWE Star Breaks Nose During Day 1 Botch

WWE star Ridge Holland recently suffered an injury during WWE Day 1 pay-per-view’s kickoff show. He was featured in a tag team match when he teamed with Sheamus to take on the team of Cesaro and Ricochet. During the match Holland got busted open in an unfortunate turn of events.

The match was announced late on, but it didn’t matter because it did not hold much significance from a storyline perspective. Three of the four men competed in the Gauntlet Match on SmackDown recently. Ricochet was attempting his standard standing 450 splash on Ridge Holland with the help of Cesaro. Unfortunately for both men, the attempt was botched, and Ricochet’s foot accidentally stomped Holland’s face.

Holland immediately rolled to the floor and was checked on by a WWE medic as Sheamus came in and continued the match. After a few minutes at ringside, the medic accompanied Holland to the backstage area for further evaluation. Michael Cole then announced on commentary that Holland would not be returning as he was being treated for a broken nose.

It goes without saying that this wasn’t the original finish – not without Ridge Holland anyway. Sheamus seemed to signal for Holland to come after the match.

Holland himself even took to his Twitter account and posted a picture showing his wild injury. He went on to caption the picture with: “Bloody lovely!”. Previously Sheamus had also revealed sad hospital photo.

WWE Day 1 suffered the loss of Roman Reigns, who tested positive for the virus, leading to Brock Lesnar being added to a five way WWE title match, where he defeated Big E, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, and Seth Rollins to win his sixth WWE championship. Lesnar first won the WWE title 20 years ago against The Rock.
