For a long time there have been rumors that Rey Mysterio and Andrade were going to compete in a gimmick match. The match in question would be a mask vs hair match. However, it did not end up happening.
On this week’s RAW Andrade defended his WWE United States Title against Rey Mysterio. The match did not end as expected, but Andrade still took Rey Mysterio’s mask before the segment ended.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez said that it seems WWE is preparing for a mask vs hair match. It could also be a mask vs title match.
Mysterio certainly has many options and it does not seem likely he will be losing his mask. His mask is still being merchandised by WWE.
