Hiroshi Tanahashi’s movie “My Dad is a Heel Wrestler” is coming to New Japan World, New Japan Wrestling’s streaming service.
The movie came out in 2018 and features Hiroshi Tanahashi in the leading role. The movie will be available to stream on NJPW World in Japan at midnight on Saturday, April 4. Outside of its home nation, the movie will be available to stream only in America, Britain, Australia, Canada, and Germany. The movie will only be available for a limited time though and will be taken off the streaming platform on September 3, 2020.
The movie is brought to NJPW World as part of the company’s NJPW Together project, which features the company uploading alternative content on its streaming services as no events are taking place due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Takashi Omura (Hiroshi Tanahashi) was once a popular professional wrestler, but he isn’t popular anymore. He now wears a cockroach mask and wrestles as a villain. He is married to Shiori (Yoshino Kimura) and they have an elementary school-aged son named Shota (Kokoro Terada). Takashi and Shiori have not yet told their son what Takashi does for a living. One day, Shota finds out that Takashi is a professional wrestler and a villain with a cockroach mask. Shota is shocked and tells a lie to his classmate that his dad is a popular professional wrestler.
