Smackdown Info

Last Friday, “WWE SmackDown” faced a tough challenge as NCAA March Madness was in full swing, and half of the tournament’s Sweet 16 was being showcased. Despite the competition, the show’s viewership numbers only slipped by two percent compared to the previous week, according to Wrestlenomics, with an overall average of 2,219,000 viewers. While a drop in viewership is not ideal with WrestleMania 39 approaching, these numbers do not seem to indicate any major concerns.

The key demographic of adults aged 18 to 49 also saw a two percent decline in viewership, with a rating of 0.58 compared to last week’s 0.59. The difference in viewership was only 13,000, with 757,000 tuning in for last Friday’s show compared to 770,000 the previous week. “SmackDown” ranked seventh on television overall in the P18-49 demo for the day.

Despite the slight dip in viewership, last Friday’s “SmackDown” continued to build momentum towards WrestleMania 39 with the furthering of multiple storylines. Rey Mysterio finally accepted his son Dominik’s challenge, two more tag teams were added to the women’s Fatal Four-Way Showcase match, The Usos disrupted “The KO Show” with guest Sami Zayn, and Cody Rhodes emerged victorious once again as he set his sights on Roman Reigns and the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. It is worth noting that last Friday’s edition of “SmackDown” brought in its lowest viewership total since December 16 and its lowest P18-49 rating since February 17.
