Abyss and Sonjay Dutt leave Impact Wrestling

Impact Wrestling lost two important cogs in their creative team recently. PWInsider has revealed that both Abyss and Sonjay Dutt have left the company.

It’s assumed that they’re on their way to the WWE at this point, though it’s unknown how they’ll be used.

Over the past few years, both Dutt and Abyss were honored by Impact in their own ways. Abyss went into the company’s Hall of Fame in 2018, while Dutt finally won his first, and only X-Division Championship back in 2017, winning the belt from Low-Ki in Mumbai.

While it’s possible that we may see the two appear on WWE TV at some point, whether it’s the main roster or working with up and coming talent in NXT, they may have been brought on for the company’s creative team.

Speaking of which, Impact has replaced Abyss and Dutt with Tommy Dreamer and Konnan on their creative team. The split between the two and Impact was amicable, and the company wished them well in their future, wherever that takes them.

Would you like to see Abyss or Sonjay Dutt appear on NXT? Let us know in the comments below.

I always liked Sonjay Dutt, myself. On the mic and in the ring. His ring work was pretty good, I remember him doing a lot of flips and athletic cruiserweight type stuff, fun to watch for sure. I wouldn’t complain if he happened to show up at NXT.

If I am WWE I tell Abyss to go elsewhere. He is no AJ Styles or Soma Joe. WWE is also look to be pushing new young talent a little harder in 2019.

  • BiggEZ

Agreed. Ten, fifteen years ago, Taker, Kane and Abyss could have been a HELL of a stable.

  • Abyss could have been something at one time, but now TNA and time itself has stopped that.

  • Sparti Love

Abyss would be awesome in WWE.. 10yrs ago

With AEW signing talent as well, why would we assume they are signing with WWE seeing as there has been no talk of them being interested in these two?

  • Soulshroude

And the next contestant on: JOIN AWE! Abyss!!!

  • AEW 4 LIFE

I can see abyss going to AEW and making some serious COIN. AEW have some fat contracts on the table waiting 🙂

I have to agree. I dont really think either of them could really be a big draw in NXT or the Main roster. I could see Abyss taking up more of the Kane role though.

Sonjay wasn’t a bad announcer from what little I remember. I don’t know enough of his ring work, but he can bring more than one skill wherever he goes next.

  • Too little, too late.
