UFC 273 is in the history books as the event recently transpired at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. The UFC President Dana White recently expressed his distaste towards the judges. He recently lambasted the conclusion of the Bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan at UFC 273. The co-main event for the show saw the bantamweight title fight end with a bit of controversy as champion Aljamain Sterling won the title unification match over interim champ Petr Yan.
Dana White is furious with the judges
Sterling won the fight by split decision, taking out Yan to claim the undisputed title. White is called them out for the debatable decision. White talked to the reporters at the post-fight press conference and shared his honest take about the decision.
“I thought that the judges blew that one,” White said. “I had it 3-2 the other way. I don’t know how you guys scored it. I guess it’s all in how you score that first round.” The outcome was seemingly controversial and White was fair in his assessment that it was all about the first round. The judges, Sal D’Amato and Eliseo Rodriguez, scored the opening five minutes 10-9 for Sterling, while Chris Lee scored it 10-9 for Yan.
Petr Yan spoke with commentator Joe Rogan in a post-fight interview and expressed he felt robbed. “I think I won this fight and I got robbed,” Yan said through his translator in the octagon. “I think I won three rounds out of five.”
The controversial decision had fans in a bit of a stir as well. After the fight, White denied Yan’s rematch request despite believing that he won. When asked if a rematch was next for Sterling, White said:
“Nah, that fight is going to be there. Petr Yan is one of the baddest dudes in that division. We will probably do the TJ [Dillashaw] fight.”
