Backstage news on Jon Moxley’s contract with NJPW

While Jon Moxley couldn’t win the G1 Climax tournament, it appears that the former WWE Star will be sticking around NJPW for the foreseeable future.

According to reports from Sports Illustrated, Moxley is under contract with the Japanese promotion until the Wrestle Kingdom 14 at January 4. This year’s Wrestle Kingdom event will feature a second show on January 5th as well.

There is no word yet on what NJPW is planning for Moxley after the G1 special or who he will be facing at the upcoming Wrestle Kingdom event but the speculation is that he will be competing against Juice Robinson.

Jon Moxley had defeated Robinson for the IWGP US Title back in June but the former WWE Star then lost to Juice during the G1 Climax tournament.

This sets the stage for a third, conclusive match between the two stars and it makes sense for Robinson to challenge Moxley for the US title at the PPV next year.
