It has been noted that President Joe Biden recently ridiculed former president Donald Trump Saturday for his evening high-dollar fundraiser. He blasted the “bunch of hedge fund billionaires” who were gathering in Florida to support him via NY Post.
“This campaign is Scranton versus Palm Beach,” Biden said in a video posted to X.
“Folks, you know Trump is down in Florida today raising money from a bunch of hedge fund billionaires who want him to cut Social Security and Medicare and their taxes,” he claimed in the 54-second clip.
It is noted that Trump’s swanky soiree, hosted by hedge funder John Paulson at his $110 million Palm Beach mansion, attracted a host of prominent Republicans who paid between $250,000 and $814,000 for entry.
Biden then talked about his campaign’s March fundraising report, released earlier Saturday, which racked a $90 million intake for the month — boosted, he said, by an influx of small-dollar donations under $200.
“Our campaign now has 1.6 million individual donors, and more than half a million of those donors are brand-new since 2020,” Biden boasted.
However, he did not mention the $500,000 top ticket price of his lavish New York City fundraiser last week, which raised more than $25 million and featured appearances by former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, plus performances by Lizzo, Queen Latifah, and others.
Biden’s new small-dollar totals, if confirmed, would represent a sharp turnaround for the two candidates. Trump and his GOP committees took in a record $626.6 million from grassroots givers in 2020, far outpacing Biden in the category.
