Carlito is backstage at the WWE Royal Rumble tonight and expected to be a surprise entrant, PWInsider.com is reporting. He’ll likely be at Raw tomorrow and get a tryout as a producer.
This is very similar to how MVP was brought back last year, first as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match, followed by some Raw appearances as he worked backstage as an agent, and eventually transitioning back into a full time talent with the ‘Hurt Business’ after reuniting with Bobby Lashley, 5 years after their alliance in TNA.
Carlito was supposed to be at Legends’ Night earlier this month, but reportedly disagreed with creative’s lack of ideas to use him on the show. PWInsider are also reporting that WWE are filming several documentaries backstage at the Royal Rumble, as they usually do at major shows when many talent are united. Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch’s Royal Rumble statuses have been revealed.
“WWE is conducting interviews for future Network documentaries on Big E., Edge and Bill Goldberg today at the Royal Rumble PPV in Tampa, Florida.”
Edge had a powerful WWE Network documentary released last year on his road to making an in ring comeback after 9 years.
Goldberg has had multiple WWE Network specials, including on his first 2016/2017 WWE comeback run, and more recently a special on his winning streak in WCW, that started in 1997 and was later ended by Kevin Nash at Starrcade 1998. Big E is a frequent media personality, hosting his own podcast with the New Day.
