For a long time now there were rumors that Manny Pacquiao was going to square off against UFC legend Conor McGregor, but it never amounted to a boxing match. Conor McGregor lost to Dustin Poirier back in January at UFC 257, with Poirier becoming the first man to knock out McGregor in MMA. In an interview with TheMacLife, The Notorious One laid the blame on him being distracted a possible boxing match against Manny Pacquiao, which ultimately hindered his preparation for his fight against Dustin Poirier.
“Just focus on mixed martial arts, first of all. It was an 85% camp for boxing, for Manny Pacquiao. That’s how the fight came about. It was gonna be a charity event, not even under the UFC banner. It was just because he was a southpaw and I felt a bit of pity for him and what not, said I’d help him out. And that’s it.
