Ex-WWE World Champion Quits Before SmackDown?

Former WWE RAW Women’s Champion Asuka recently dropped a message on her social media account that has gotten her fans concerned.

Asuka seemingly teases character change

Asuka has been teasing a character change for a few days now. Judging by her recent Twitter posts, she is teasing the return of the infamous ‘Kana’ gimmick that she portrayed in Japan. Asuka shared a one-word message to her fans: ‘Goodbye.’ The message was accompanied by a YouTube video of Asuka’s greatest victories against Becky Lynch, Bayley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss.

Asuka had previously taken to her Twitter account to share a series of tweets hinting that a character change is on the horizon for The Empress of Tomorrow. Back when she was a popular name in Japan, Asuka used to don the gimmick of Kana.

Asuka has been down on her luck in recent weeks, suffering a series of losses at both televised and WWE live events. It’s entirely possible that WWE creative is setting her up for character change with her recent losing woes. Asuka has not portrayed a heel character in WWE since her time teaming up with Kairi Sane as one-half of The Kabuki Warriors.

Asuka was part of the Women’s WarGames Match which saw Team Damage CTRL (Bayley, IYO SKY, Dakota Kai, Nikki Cross & Rhea Ripley) take on Team Bianca (Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Mia Yim & Becky Lynch). It was Becky Lynch who picked the win for her team. Dakota Kai and IYO SKY were perched on a table and Lynch hit a leg drop off the top of the cage. The Man would subsequently pin Kai to secure the win for Team Belair.
