Fani Willis To Be Investigated After Trump Trial Corruption?

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is facing scrutiny following revelations that a special prosecutor involved in the Georgia election-interference case against Donald Trump allegedly funded her travels on multiple occasions during the investigation. Bank statements presented in the divorce proceedings of Nathan Wade, a special prosecutor appointed by Willis, indicate that he paid for her flights on two separate occasions—one to Miami in October 2022 and another to San Francisco in April 2023.

The statements, provided by Nathan Wade’s wife, Joycelyn Wade, indicate that the payments were made from a Visa Signature Business account. Newsweek has not been able to confirm whether public funds or Wade’s personal funds were used for these transactions. Attempts to reach Fani Willis for comment have been made but were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

These findings seem to align with allegations made by one of Trump’s co-defendants in the Georgia election interference case, Michael Roman. In August 2023, Trump and 18 others were indicted for their alleged involvement in attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. Trump consistently denies the charges, dismissing them as part of a political agenda to hinder his position as the GOP frontrunner in the 2024 presidential race.

Roman’s motion accused Willis of an “improper, clandestine personal relationship” with Nathan Wade, asserting that this relationship resulted in both the special prosecutor and the district attorney profiting at the taxpayers’ expense. Roman seeks to disqualify Willis and Wade from the trial, a motion that Trump has not joined. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has confirmed that it is not investigating Willis for alleged impropriety.

The emergence of these documents has prompted inquiries into Willis’s actions, particularly from pro-Trump factions. The Fulton County board of commissioners is seeking an explanation, hinting at the potential initiation of an investigation. Former President Trump weighed in on the matter through his social-media platform Truth Social, alleging that Willis paid her boyfriend/lover more than the state of Georgia paid other better-qualified lawyers, contrary to her repeated statements.

Conservative commentator Tom Borelli expressed his opinion on the situation, stating that Fani Willis should consider self-indictment for the misuse of public funds, highlighting Wade’s purported lack of experience in prosecuting cases like the one in Georgia. The controversy surrounding Willis’s conduct continues to draw attention and criticism from various quarters.
