Jim Ross Drops Steve Austin Return Bombshell

WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve has been rumored to make his return to the company at WrestleMania 38, which is set to take place in his hometown, Texas. It was previously noted that he might end up having a match at the event. It has been almost a couple of decades since Austin was last seen inside the squared circle. However, he has made many cameo appearances and he has never been involved in a proper match. ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ has been rumored to be one-on-one against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38. However, it was also noted that his WWE return could be in jeopardy as well.

Jim Ross opens up on Steve Austin’s possible in-ring return

The former WWE commentator Jim Ross, who is currently signed with AEW, recently reacted to the ongoing rumors in an “Ask JR” session on AdFreeShows.com. The AEW announcer shared his thoughts on the matter.

While Austin is still into the business, JR said that he wasn’t sure whether his former colleague would want a full-fledged return to the squared circle. JR also mentioned Sting’s success in AEW and questioned whether it might have influenced Stone Cold into considering a return to the ring:

“Well, you know, Steve still has a great passion for the business. He is 50 years old; I don’t think he wants to reignite his wrestling career. I don’t know if the success AEW has had with a guy that’s older than him and another legend in Sting has influenced that creative or that idea I don’t know,” said Jim Ross.

Ross revealed that he speaks to Austin every month and he admitted that they rarely talk about wrestling, and he had no idea about the Texas Rattlesnake’s apparent desire to wrestle again:

“I talk to Steve about once a month, and more often than not, we don’t talk about wrestling. He didn’t watch a lot of wrestling, and I probably watch too much. If it’s a football conversation or home improvement stuff, it’s food, the grill, and things like that. We’re old friends, and there are millions of things we can talk about without talking about pro wrestling,” added JR.

We will see if the WWE legend makes his in-ring return at WrestleMania 38.
