President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign recently joined Truth Social, the social media company founded by former President Donald Trump in order to troll Biden’s likely future general election opponent.
it has been noted that the Biden campaign officials leaked their intention to begin campaigning on the app to Fox News Digital on Monday morning, expressing their intentions to meet voters “where they are” and push back on “disinformation” on the platform.
“There’s very little ‘truth’ happening on Truth Social, but at least now it’ll be a little fun,” remarked one aide to Biden in an interview with Fox.
“Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!” declared the campaign account, @BidenHQ in its inaugural post.
So far, the campaign has focused on posting clips of Republicans praising Biden and criticizing Trump.
“Give credit where credit’s due. The words that Biden used were important,” Nikki Haley told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade in a clip posted by the account about Biden’s speech on the ongoing conflict in Israel.
Another clip showed Haley responding to Trump’s assertion that former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley should be executed for treason.
“I just think it’s irresponsible,” commented Haley. “I mean you don’t need to say things like that. I think that any man or woman that has served our country deserves the highest respect.”
The Biden campaign also highlighted a moment during the second Republican primary debate when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis assailed Trump for not attending.
“You know who else is missing in action? Donald Trump is missing in action, he should be on this stage tonight. He owes it to you to defend his record where they added 7.8 trillion to the debt — that set the stage for the inflation that we have,” argued DeSantis.
The account’s activity is seemingly indicating that the Biden camp expects to face off against Trump once again in 2024. But on Twitter, the campaign suggested another reason for its existence.
“We just joined Truth Social, mostly because we thought it would be very funny,” it explained. “Follow us there for truths and retruths or whatever they call them.”
