On the pre-show of Elimination Chamber, it was mentioned that Keith Lee is not currently “medically cleared” to compete in his match. WWE mentioned on their website that Lee is injured. There has been no further details officially from WWE.
PWInsider reports that the injury is real. It seems that Lee’s reason for missing the pay-per-view follows a storyline with Bobby Lashley as Lashley attacked Lee two weeks ago on Monday Night Raw leading to Keith Lee being injured.
To fill the slot left empty by the former NXT Champion, WWE had announced that a fatal four-way would would be happening at Elimination Chamber to fill his spot in the U.S. title match. The competitors were John Morrison, Ricochet, Mustafa Ali and Elias, with Morrison winning. Riddle ultimately won a triple threat with Morrison and Bobby Lashley for the U.S. title, pinning Morrison.
While WWE fans seem to enjoy Keith Lee, the real reason why Keith has been pushed off from WWE TV in recent weeks due to Vince McMahon being ‘unhappy with his promos,’ and ‘not getting’ him. Vince’s reasons for disliking Keith Lee were recently detailed. Lee also missed TV for after weeks after being exposed to COVID-19, as his girlfriend Mia Yim tested positive.
Hopefully this isn’t the beginning of the end for Keith Lee. It’s never good sign when a superstar starts getting written off of WWE TV entirely.
