Lio Rush was one of the stars who was released as part of the coronavirus budget cuts by WWE and as it turns out, he didn’t learn about his firing from the company.
The former Cruiserweight Champion recently had an interview with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes where he talked about things like his future and more.
During the interview, Rush revealed that he learned about his release from the internet and he then called the WWE officials himself to confirm the news:
“I was the first group of people that were announced. I actually made the call myself; I saw that there were a lot of news sites posting about it. It made mainstream news, so I was like ‘oh man, this might be a real thing.’ So I called the Head of Talent Relations and I just asked—like, straight up—’Am I one of these people who is going to be released today? Because I’m seeing it all over the internet and I don’t want to find out over the internet or through one of my fans.’
It’s worth mentioning here that Lio Rush recently teased retirement from active competition after his WWE release and hinted at an alternate career in the music industry.
