Marty Scurll could have been the Dark Order’s leader

Marty Scurll recently signed a contract with ROH, so he will be staying with the promotion. AEW definitely wanted to sign him and even had plans for him.

According to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW apparently planned on having Scurll as the leader of the Dark Order. He was supposed to be the Exalted One. Now AEW will find someone else owing to Scurll remaining with ROH.

Scurll had been the first choice to be the leader of the Dark Order and AEW for the 12/18 show in Corpus Christi with the heavily criticized beatdown, there was an idea for the show to end with the Scurll reveal, until ROH made Scurll such a great offer to stay

It is unknown who AEW will now choose to be the Exalted One. We will get to know in due time. Perhaps ROH and AEW will work out a partnership in the future.

    yeah, no. I politely disagree

Im saying they are a pathetic joke. One that no one is laughing at, Not
even the AEW faithful. They are joke wrestlers, who only have a job bc
of who they are friends with. There is no upside to them. Trying to make
them some evil cult is even more pathetic than the video game character
gimmick. And there is no wrestler alive today or ever that woudl have
enough star power to save this sh*t sandwich that is the Dark Order!
Hopefully that was more clear for you.

I like the name Dark Order, I even like the idea of a cult recruiting people, but we don’t need a job squad and anyone named Evil Uno will never get over, especially being as out of shape as he is. Additionally, the masks look like crap.

  • Broken_MattHardy

Evil Uno and Stu Greyson are great wrestlers, what are you even saying?

  • Eighth Sin

It will be a poor payoff regardless of who they get. The Dark Order isnt getting over. Trying to hint Cornette recently when everyone knows there is no way that would happen. That was just dumb. This is what happens when you play to just the ppl in on the joke. There is no star who can save this turd of an idea. Any saying Scurll was gonna be the head honcho is stupid as hell. He would of deserved so much better than these job boys.

No proof that this was the plan, so I would take it with a pinch of salt.
That said, if that was the plan then maybe they should have waited until he signed before going ahead with it.

So they wrote themselves into a corner expecting he’d sign. Page would have been another acceptable option, but he was named as being targeted as a recruit. So who’s going to be the leader now? Brodie Lee? If so, that’s a very poor payoff.
