The former WWE star CM Punk allegedly had some issues with the script he was provided during his feud with The Rock. Matt McCarthy, a former WWE writer, claimed that Punk was not in favor of a promo script about ‘The Great One’ in 2013.
Punk’s 434-day WWE Championship reign was ended by The Rock at the 2013 Royal Rumble. A month later, The Great One won a rematch at Elimination Chamber to set up a second successive WrestleMania main event against John Cena.
CM Punk was not willing to put over The Rock
Speaking on The Universal Wrestling Podcast, McCarthy was asked about Naomi and Sasha Banks’ recent RAW walkout. He revealed that he could not recall a similar incident occurring during his time with the company but the ex-writer remembered how Punk reacted when given a script he disliked:
“I remember Punk being handed a promo about The Rock and him refusing to [say it],” McCarthy said. “He’s like, ‘So now I’ve got to f***ing put over The Rock? F*** that.’ I remember that happening. I don’t recall anyone walking out per se.”
It has been noted that Punk wanted to be added to the main event between Cena and The Rock at WrestleMania 29. Instead, he was booked to lose against The Undertaker in what turned out to be his final WrestleMania match.
It is almost similar to what Sasha Banks and Naomi did recently, except for the fact that they walked out, unlike Punk. Sasha Banks and Naomi recently grabbed the headlines when they took a huge step during RAW. There have been various sides to the story already reported, including that they confronted WWE Chairman Vince McMahon over their issue. WWE left that part out of their official narrative, but Banks and Naomi did have words with the boss. In the official statement from the company, it was noted that Sasha Banks and Naomi dropped their tag titles on the desk of John Laurinaitis and left the building. It has been speculated that Banks and Naomi reportedly won’t be fired.
It has been recently noted on the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown that Sasha Banks and Naomi have also been indefinitely suspended from WWE and had their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles stripped. It was also reported that even their merchandise was pulled from the online shop.
