Former First Lady Melania Trump’s absence from her husband’s criminal trial in Manhattan, where he faces charges related to concealing payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, has raised questions. National Review reporter John Fund explained to GB News’ Steve Edginton that Melania’s decision not to attend may partly stem from a desire to preserve her own free time amidst multiple upcoming trials.
Trump is facing charges of felony falsification of business records, which allegedly involve efforts to conceal payments to Daniels during the 2016 presidential election. This trial, the first of four criminal proceedings Trump is expected to face, has drawn attention to allegations of infidelity, potentially making it embarrassing for Melania. Fund noted that while Melania likely wasn’t pleased to hear such details aired in public, she has likely faced more challenging situations in the past.
Fund suggested that Melania’s reluctance to be in the public spotlight may be driving her decision to stay away from the trial. This inclination was evident when Trump briefly attended their son Barron’s graduation, and Melania wore an outfit that observers speculated was meant to conceal her identity.
The trial, presided over by New York Judge Juan Merchan, is nearing the stage of jury deliberation, expected to commence next week.
