Owen Hart: Celebrating His Legacy Through Charity

Owen Hart died 22 years today today in a tragic accident at Over the Edge 1999 in a tragic accident. While members of Owen’s family and WWE stars have disagreed in recent years about his entering the Hall of Fame and how to properly celebrate his legacy, Owen’s widow Martha has frequently spoken about the Owen Hart Foundation.

Martha wrote on OwenHartFoundation.org, “I established the Owen Hart Foundation in his memory in December 2000. Building this meaningful tribute to my husband and our children has given me strength and saved me from despair over his death. The Owen Hart Foundation is a permanent legacy that is in place to help people today and for generations to come.

Owen was a practical man of profound integrity, a wonderful husband and devoted father. He would be extremely proud of the good work carried out by the Foundation and would be honoured to be remembered for what he loved best, which was his sincere kindness to all people.”

Owen is a Hall of Famer in all of our hearts, and if you’d like to honor him, donating to the charity is a great start. Wrestling-Edge will kick off the donations with $150, and we hope to see you join us. If you have any other wrestling related charities you would like to see showcased here, please leave a comment.
