Planned Brock Lesnar match reportedly nixed already

Brock Lesnar

We noted before how WWE had plans for Finn Balor to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal title, presumably at the Royal Rumble PPV next year.

However, it appears that these plans have already been nixed by the company because Mr. McMahon thinks that the former Universal Champion is not that popular with the crowd.

According to Wrestling Observer, the company has cooled down on the idea of pushing Balor because Vince McMahon thinks that he is not ‘over enough’.

As a result of this change, the talks of him receiving a title opportunity against the Beast somewhere down the line have been nixed already.

No word yet on who will be the Beast’s next opponent. What this means for Balor’s future is not known either so we’ll have to wait and see where his character is headed to next.

And yet Roman reigns who continues to be booed off stage when by himself…….is over enough. when Roman returned for a moment they even booed The Shield when he stepped up there. All u hear are the school girls and the children in the audience

Getting injured to the point where you’re forced to retire. Yeah, I could see that…

  • MrDr3w

Reigns is actually one of the most over guys on the entire roster…

If I am Finn Baylor would not mind not being in a match with Brock Lesnar because he would get buried. Brock is going to be gone soon. Yes it looks like Roman Reigns is going to be the guy hey I am not even happy about it. Finn Baylor time will come again.

Finn Balor is over, WWE’s eyes are veiled so badly that they just want the top 5 guys in, right now. Their literally scrambling for ideas. Balor should keep his Demon King gimmick and use it for a while, rather than only use it once per year as per WWE standards. Than he should see more merch. Otherwise, Balor Club isn’t going to do half as much.

The people want awesome gimmicks, no poorly made “in retrospect” crap. The WWE has already buried Balor unintentionally and without even realizing it.

I mean, I get it. He has been booked poorly since getting injured. That could be the reason he’s “not over” with the crowd. But if he’s not over, the announcers should stop trying to make it seem like he is. “The Balor Club is in full force tonight!” Apparently it’s not. But it’s okjay. Brock would probably injure him again anyway. I knew it was a bad idea when they first started talking about it.

What I think they should do is stick him in a heel tag team with Joe, so that he’s protected from getting hurt. Then after awhile, have Gallows and Anderson join, and maybe throw in another name like Hideo Itami or Akira Tozawa (for the international flavor, and so they can be represented on 205 Live as well). That way Balor gets over, Gallows and Anderson get over, 205 Live gets a ratings boost. Everyone wins.
