Randy Orton Reason For Leaving Royal Rumble Leaks

Dave Meltzer has clarified that Randy Orton’s injury was a work in the Royal Rumble, and part of the storyline in the match to have Edge win in a new tweet. Another WWE legend was hurting after the match.

A fan asked, “Hi Dave. Was the Fiend supposed to appear last night? I’m wondering if Orton’s injury changed plans.”

Meltzer responded, “Orton wasn’t injured.” Orton has been involved in a storyline with ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt and Alexa Bliss, but this was largely ignored at the Rumble outside of Bliss referencing her dual character during the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

Orton coming back at the end of the match and nearly winning was a big surprise, but possibly two bigger ones were Kane and Damian Priest appearing in the match.

Kane said after the Royal Rumble match, “He’s got a ton of potential,” said Kane. “I mean it stinks because I would have liked to be in the match longer. But he’s [Priest] going to be an impact player in WWE. I think you’re going to see a lot more moments like that from him in the future.”

Damian Priest is expected to join the main roster, while Kane’s appearance was a one off, and he will now go back to being the Mayor of Knox County. AEW Champion Kenny Omega took a shot at WWE marks at the Royal Rumble.
