Rob Van Dam Drops AEW Debut Bombshell

Rob Van Dam to AEW? Kurt Angle also responded to AEW debut rumors. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite was one of the most memorable ones to date as Shaquille O’Neal went through two tables in victory during his mixed tag team match as he and Jade Cargill defeated Cody and Red Velvet. During the show, one half of the commentary team for AEW’s newest show – AEW Dark: Elevation made a stunning announcement regarding the status of All Elite Wrestling’s Revolution pay-per-view event.

Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show to WWE audiences announced that his partner Tony Schiavone doesn’t get ‘all the scoops around here’ and proceeded to announce that at AEW Revolution, the company will be signing a ‘Hall of Fame worthy’ talent. Although, it unclear on whether or not this particular talent is not already in a Hall of Fame considering Wight botched the name of the pay-per-view in the past, calling it ‘AEW Evolution’ in a miscue.

This led several professional wrestling fans to take to social media via Twitter to speculate who they think this mystery signing could potentially be. Rob Van Dam even liked a tweet that said, “I think it’s gotta be RVD.” RVD loves messing with fans on social media, but it is an interesting tweet.

MntDrew_13 stated: “Probably Mark Henry or Kurt Angle…. But let’s throw some wild guesses out there The Rock, Brock Lesnar, John Cena or Ollie’s favorite….. CM Punk to AEW confirmed!!”

Jaded Wrestling added in their two cents by speculating: “Here’s my two wildcards for the AEW signing because realistic guesses are boring either @PatMcAfeeShow or @JohnCena.” While Wrestling Shame proclaimed that the company should be careful with an announcement such as this. “AEW is treading dangerously with this “Hall of Fame worthy” signing stuff. If it’s not CM Punk or Brock Lesnar (and I seriously doubt it will be either of them), they risk really letting people down.” This fellow Hall of Famer ‘threatened’ Kurt Angle backstage.

It’s interesting to point out that Conrad Thompson and Eric Bischoff both appeared on this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. With Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross also having shows that are co-hosted by Conrad, one would have to believe that Kurt Angle could be a very educated guess. Revolution will take place on March 7, 2021 at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.
