Steve Austin Painful WrestleMania 38 Rumor Leaks

There have been numerous speculations regarding the potential return of the WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38. He has been slated to make a return to the squared circle. Austin has not been featured in a match in 19 years. However, Austin’s close friend and AEW commentator Jim Ross believes that the WWE Hall of Famer is done as an in-ring performer.

Steve Austin might not return for a match

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently noted that WWE is eager to bring Austin back for a match against Kevin Owens at this year’s WrestleMania. He said the company has tickets to sell, so Stone Cold is needed as a marquee attraction and ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ is a great way to attract the fans for the event.

Meltzer also added that Austin’s probable best friend in wrestling, Jim Ross, said that he doesn’t talk about wrestling with Austin. JR had expressed his desire for Austin to make a huge comeback. But, he believes that the former WWE Champion doesn’t want to resume his pro-wrestling career. He stated that while a confrontation between Owens and Austin is a lock, there’s no certainty over the match. He said:

“As of right now, this is not certain to be a match although there will be a confrontation. Austin has been very careful for years not to put himself in a position to be disappointing to fans and has not agreed to do it as a match as best we know. It is unknown the final form but the belief is it will be more than just Austin giving Owens a stunner, although that will be the final payoff most likely. But WWE wants a match.”

The world of WWE is unpredictable and we will have to see what unfolds at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All.’ The event will take place on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
