The Rock comments on the XFL deal being finalized

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson along with his business partners, Dany Garcia and RedBird Capital, announced this week that the deal to see them acquire the XFL is now official.

The WWE legend took to social media to comment on the acquisition of the football league founded by Johnson’s old boss, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon on Friday afternoon.

“The deal is official closed and ‘the keys’ to the XFL have been handed over,” Johnson wrote via his official Twitter page. “I humbly accept and promise to put my callouses to hard work building our new brand.”

The Rock continued, “Congrats to my partners Dany Garcia Co. and Gerry Cardinale and our sharp, hungry team. #XFLOwner #ForTheLoveOfFootball.”

Johnson’s ex-wife and business partner Garcia also chimed in on Twitter to comment on the acquisition officially going through this week.

“The deal is officially closed,” Garcia wrote. “Excited [and] humbled to be the first woman to ever own an American major sports league.”

Her Twitter statement continued, “A big thank you to The Rock, Gerry Cardinale [and] our incredible teams for all their work the past few months. More big moves to come! #XFLOwner #ForTheLoveOfFootball.”
