Cody Rhodes recently cut an emotional promo on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW. He kicked off the show and he revealed his aims after returning to the company. Cody said that he wants to capture the world title that his father, Dusty Rhodes, did not win in the company. After the show went off the air, ‘The American Nightmare’ had his first singles match on the red brand since his return. He went on to face Kevin Owens.

After RAW ended, Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes faced off. The two veterans hugged and shook hands before the match began. The contest went on for six minutes, where Owens poked fun at Rhodes by using The Young Bucks’ signature pose, as per a report by WrestlingNews.
During the match, the two left the ring and fought by the commentary desk. The Rock’s mother, Ata Johnson, was ringside – as she was at WrestleMania – and she got involved in the match as well, much to the delight of the fans. She held Owens as Cody landed blows on him and The American Nightmare hugged The Rock’s mother.

During the latest episode of the 83 Weeks Podcast, Eric Bischoff shared his opinion on the return of The American Nightmare and why he believes Cody’s return was a 10 out of 10. The former WCW President said he was so proud of him and revealed that he spoke to Cody after his match.
“Magic, just one word, magic,” Bischoff said. “Everything from the entrance, the match, the post-match production, the visual reactions to the crowd, what element of that entire presentation was not a 10 on a scale of 1-10. I don’t know, I couldn’t pick it out. That was so good, I was so so happy to be able to watch that live. So proud and I reached out to Cody, we connected afterwards and I’m just so proud for him. I really really am.”
