Triple H calls Cain Velasquez’s signing a ‘Ronda Rousey moment’

Triple H

Cain Velasquez made his WWE debut during last week’s episode of SmackDown Live and since then it has been confirmed that he has signed a 2 years deal with the company.

The promotion then held a press conference before this week’s SmackDown to confirm that Velasquez will be facing Brock Lesnar for the WWE title at the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV.

Cathy Kelley interviewed Triple H after the press conference took place and while commenting on the signing of the former UFC Star, H called it a ‘Ronda Rousey’ moment:

“It’s big. Whenever you can get the level of an athlete of Cain Velasquez, it’s a Ronda Rousey moment. He’s now a WWE superstar. He’s now fully engaged with us. It’s phenomenal. Household name. The biggest thing for me is world-class athletes.”

However later in the interview, Triple H explained that Brock Lesnar will have the advantage in this match because Cain will have to go through a transitioning period from MMA to WWE.

Fighting ability has zero to do with comparison. Hes comparing them in terms of there cross over appeal for non wrestling fans. But your right it’s a Cain Velasquez moment, in terms of the fact that hes not in the same league as Ronda in name identity. Cain Is well known to mma fans or sports fans. Ronda is a household name. It’s like Conor McGregor World famous. Jose Aldo Sports Famous. But obviously Triple H has to hype the new signing so he draws the comparison to WWEs other UFC star signing. Hope this helps, here endth the lesson.

It’s not a Ronda Rousey moment, it’s a Cain Velasquez moment. He’s a way more well rounded fighter than she ever will be and trying to compare him with her is just ridiculous.
