Vince McMahon Blocked From Mass WWE Firing

The WWE has a reputation for releasing a number of Superstars after WrestleMania each year, and this trend continued during the pandemic. However, with the recent announcement of a potential UFC merger, it appears that the company is looking to retain as much talent as possible.

According to Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, there has been no indication of upcoming talent cuts. However, there may be cuts in the office and creative departments. Meltzer stated, “It’s always a possibility, but they haven’t talked about doing cuts with talent. They haven’t really said, they’ve said production, and they’ve said creative there’s gonna be no cuts. There’s gonna be lots of cuts in office people. I don’t anticipate cuts with talent.”

It is unlikely that WWE would release someone like Drew McIntyre, who is seen as a valuable asset to the company, unless he were to become injured or unwilling to work. This sentiment could be extended to many other Superstars on the main roster, as they are there for a reason.

WWE is aware that its competitor, All Elite Wrestling is willing to sign released WWE talent. This could factor into WWE’s decision-making process when it comes to releasing Superstars. It remains to be seen when or if WWE will make another sweeping roster cut, but at the moment, it does not appear to be an immediate plan.
