WWE brings back the wild card rule, Raw vs. SmackDown match announced for next week

The WWE shows have seen a decline in the TV ratings in recent times and the company is responding to this change by reintroducing the wild card rule into their programming in a new format.

The wild card rule allowed stars from Raw and SmackDown to appear on the other roster and it was reported yesterday that WWE is looking to bring the concept back.

Then on this week’s episode of Raw, Drew McIntyre announced that they have extended a brand to brand invitation to SmackDown. The show has accepted this challenge and they will be sending King Corbin to Raw next week to battle the WWE Champion in a match.

Not only that but the company has also confirmed that the NXT Champion Charlotte Flair will be making an appearance on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live.

The wild card rule had gone out of control in its final days with dozens of superstars making cross-brand appearances each week, and we will have to wait and see if the company is able to manage things better this time around.
