WWE referee provides explanation as to why he called off Hell In A Cell Match

The ending of WWE Hell In A Cell received a lot of negative backlash due to its ending. It is arguably one of the worst endings in the history of the company.

The referee called for the bell as soon as Seth Rollins hit The Fiend with a sledgehammer, while he was covered by many weapons. During WWE’s The Bump, referee Rod Zapata, he provided an explanation for his actions.

“With Bray motionless, and Seth clearly doing whatever it was going to take to win that match…I had to think of the competitor’s safety and at that moment, I did what I thought was best.”

The WWE Draft will be taking place on 11th and 14th October, so a lot of changes are expected to happen. Perhaps that might be why Bray Wyatt did not win the Universal Title.

I don’t think the finish was as bad as last year Hell In The Cell finish. Because I believe this was about saving face with The Fiend who is going to Fox. Last year was much worse because it sent Braun Strowman back to the bottom he just now getting back to were he suppose to be.

Since when did the referee have to explain his actions? WWe should be speaking for the ref, not the ref speaking for themselves. This keeps the referee’s safe from the public eye. They’re not even supposed to be seen outside the ring.

  • what?

That stupid red light killed the entire match for me

It was a poorly executed last minute finish. He could have checked on Wyatt prior to making the call, They could have announced the call before the medical team came out, the ref could have gotten taken out, etc. Instead it looked like a DQ in a match that has no DQs.
