Daniel Bryan was mentioned as a WWE Hall of Fame class of 2021 inductee on Saturday on the Canadian WWE Network on Peacock, though the announcement was quickly pulled and appeared to be an accident. Daniel Bryan’s contract is up soon.
Billi Bhatti noted on The Nitty Gritty Dirt Show with Vince Russo on RussosBrand.com that the original plan for WrestleMania was Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Universal Title, with Bryan retiring after losing. He then wondered if Bryan could still be added to the Edge vs. Reigns match after facing Reigns at WWE Fastlane.
“My personal lean would be that Bryan would be the one that they would choose, because the final thing you were supposed to see at WrestleMania 37 this year was Roman going over Daniel Bryan in his final match. Because that is what was supposed to close out WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan retiring, failing to beat Roman for the championship.
Which obviously adds more heat on Roman, and lets Bryan still go out on top. Now I don’t know whether they are still going to have that moment, or if Bryan is going to renew his contract in September.”
A Roman Reigns vs. Edge vs. Daniel Bryan match has been teased, but Dave Meltzer has indicated that the plan is not currently to change Edge vs. Reigns.
