AEW announcer Willie Urbina got involved in a controversy during the latest edition of AEW Dynamite.
The episode saw Hikaru Shida’s longest AEW Women’s World Championship reign celebration. The AEW announcer was caught mocking Shida with racist slurs and also mocked her accent.

Now, PWInsider.com confirmed that All Elite Wrestling(AEW) has released Spanish language announcer Willie Urbina today.
The release came hours after audio of Urbina, who was not aware his mic was broadcasting, had mocked Hikaru Shida’s accent.AEW Star Caught Making ‘Racist’ Comments
He was also caught discussing how he would handle the Spanish translation of Shida’s promo for the last night’s Spanish language broadcast of Dynamite.
The audio clip started to circulate on social media and it drew attention of the fans. The audio clip became a major topic of discussion on Twitter and other social media platflorms overnight.
Now, it seems Tony Khan had to make the call to release the announcer as racism is intolerable.
Urbina had previously worked for Impact Wrestling from 2006-2014 after he had started his career at IWA Puerto Rico and Carlos Colon’s World Wrestling Council. He has also done Spanish language announcing for New Japan.
