According to Joe Rogan, he did his first 15 UFC gigs as a commentator totally free of cost when the company was still relatively new.
“I did that gig for free. For the first 15 shows. Yeah, that’s what happened. The UFC was struggling, they just bought the company. It wasn’t financially viable, they weren’t making a lot of money. There was like Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell. This was like pre-2005. 2005 is when it really took off because of The Ultimate Fighter. That was season one of The Ultimate Fighter. So I was on fear factor and Dana and I became friends because he offered me tickets to the fights when they had just bought the UFC.”
Rogan also previously spoke on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, where he revealed that Jake Paul would defeat him in a boxing match due to a health issue concerning his knees.
“He’ll probably f*** me up. He’s a really good boxer. He’s a good boxer.
“When I was a younger man and I had good knees I could be kickboxing people. I could barely get to a workout without being in pain now. That’s the reality of knees and back.”
“There’s a big difference between maintaining (your body) and working out and then being able to train for a fight. Being able to train for a fight, your body will break down.”
