Possible reason behind Kevin Owens’ fiery promo on SmackDown

Kevin Owens cut an intense promo on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live where the former Universal Champion criticized Shane McMahon for taking up TV time from other deserving talents.

This promo was highly praised by fans and it appears that the whole thing was a result of WWE listening to their fan base and responding to the criticism on their product.

According to WrestlingNews.co, Kevin Owens’ shoot style promo was done because the company is aware of the public criticism of the recent angles involving Shane McMahon.

Not only that but the promo was start of a storyline that will phase Shane out of the WWE TV as a regular character, something fans have been rooting for in the recent while.

The site also noted that the recent decline in ratings have forced Vince McMahon to take more input on the product and he is listening to feedback more than ever.

Unless it’s the “nothing” from the Neverending Story. That’s another beast, altogether.

    Ahh…you mean nothing goes away?

Quote for this audience regarding Free Time: “Nothing goes way until it tells us, what we need to know.”

Keep that in mind before presuming you know someone eles’s situation, Anutosh. Otherwise you’re simply and just like every other “mark” on this website.

Owen’s rant is similar to Dave Batista because he too was complaining about the company not being an easy company to deal with, they are very controlling.

  • Killswitch

I really wish his finisher wasn’t the stunner now. The parallel between the two seems too forced. Owens cuts one pipebomb and now he’s the next Austin? He’s the first and only Steen/Owens in my book.

“recent while” is an oxymoron. And comes off as eccentric. Is Engr(l)ish your second language? Would appear so, most of these articles read like Yahoo does.

Very true. It’s like they are constantly trying to get us to think HHH is some sort of genius because of NXT.

  • I don’t want to see Shane go away at all, I just don’t like the wildcard garbage so that he shows up on both shows every week. I think you should either have a hard brand split or get rid of it completely like it was back in the old days and trim down the roster.

  • CC

I would not necessarily call Shane a creator as my understanding of him is that he has very little input to how the company runs these days and is purely onscreen talent.

  • Mike the Ike

So basically they are trying to turn Owens into CM Punk circa 2011. Got it.

  • Matthew Carter

CC that should also tell you how little Vince thinks of people like Shane and Triple H- anytime they shine in an authority role proving they know better than Vince, he ruins it. Look at what Vince did to NXT- raided the NXT locker rooms top drawing talent, brought them to the main roster and ruined them. Triple H and Shane are creators, Vince is the destroyer.

It’s really funny how WWE has essentially made people hate the only member of the McMahon family who used to be almost universally loved. Before Shane left the company, most people were begging for him to take over from Vince as they thought he would do better for the company than Stephanie would.

Since his return, WWE has done everything that they can to make fans hate his guts, and not in a work way.
