BT Sport give cryptic reason for NXT being ‘delayed’ this week

This week’s episode of WWE NXT was delayed for some International viewers. The weekly show is broadcast on BT Sport in the United Kingdom and SonyLIV in India.

The issues and reasoning for this delay are unspecified. The actual broadcast went live on BT Sport around the 17 minute mark. This was during the #1 Contender’s match for the NXT Women’s Championship. That match saw Rhea Ripley and Dakota Kai colliding to earn at shot at the Championship.

For those initial 17 minutes of NXT BT Sport were airing an episode of Meet The Manager. The company issued the following statement:

“In light of recent events, there’s been a change to our scheduled programming.”

There’s currently no officially released reasoning for the delay in the broadcast; although BT Sport are remaining extremely tight-lipped about the situation publicly.

Long time fans in the UK may remember the deal between WWE (then WWF) and Channel 4. This was arguably the biggest free-to-air deal that WWE has ever made in the United Kingdom, although issues surrounding the Attitude Era’s content in early 2000 meant that the deal would end up souring. Although the content in the modern era is nowhere near as risque, perhaps BT Sport are starting to have issues with WWE’s weekly offering?
