Edge will be appearing on NXT tomorrow night, which features his wife Beth Phoenix on commentary. NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano appears to be challenging Edge and Phoenix to a mixed tag match also including his partner Candice LeRae by posting a picture of both teams on his Twitter.
Edge had first teased, “In Orlando to visit my wife. Then I had a thought, @WWENXT needs to get #RatedR.”
Beth Phoenix tweeted, “Me: So…NXT? I’m literally sitting next to you. Him: I left you a note! Also him:”
She added, “OK. Kidding aside… @EdgeRatedR you’ve had a hell of a week and it’s only Tuesday! Over an hour of grueling competition at Royal Rumble, half hour main event on RAW…you never give anything less than your entire heart and soul…can’t wait to see what’s in store for @WWENXT.” Edge is also set to be on Raw every week leading into WrestleMania. Vince Russo has claimed Edge’s Royal Rumble win is hurting WWE backstage morale.
As the old wrestling adage goes – card subject to change. WWE official Adam Pearce made that abundantly clear during his feud with Roman Reigns and ‘Nitty Gritty Dirt show’ co-host Billi Bhatti has especially driven that point home during this 2021 Royal Rumble season. The wrestling journalist just discussed how plans for the Rumble changed last minute and how Edge is rumored planned to face a big name during WrestleMania 37. Some of Bhatti’s reports though have been disputed recently, including a Matt Riddle contract report, so take it with a grain of salt.
In addition, Bhatti took to social media via Twitter to answer the Vice Brand of former WCW and WWE superstar Big Vito over at BigVitosBrand known as NoDQ_Virtue who said: “This is what makes dual top titles the shits to me. I feel it diminishes the winner of the RR, both men and women. Oh well”
To which Bhatti responded with the following, saying that Edge and Orton was actually meant to be the blow off match at Summerslam with the Women’s Royal Rumble planned out months ago. It should be noted that the Women’s Royal Rumble was rehearsed for nearly six hours.
“That’s been planned for a year. Edge and Orton was meant to be blown off at SummerSlam though. Nothing would surprise me though after hearing about yesterday’s back and forth. Women’s Rumble and plans were set out months ago and executed as planned. Men’s winner changed all week.”
